1. Drink lots of water. The body needs around 2 litres of fluid a day, this doesn’t have to just be water, and it can be a mixture of juice, skimmed milk a cup of tea or coffee. Water is essential for maintaining your body’s daily functions and keeps your skin looking healthy. People often confuse thirst with hunger. So next time you’re feeling peckish, stop and have a glass of water instead.

2. 5 Portions of fruit and vegetables. By having at least 5 portions of fruit and veg, it will stop you feeling as hungry and snacking on junk. It has loads of fibre to keep you regular and provides vitamins and minerals needed for a healthy body.

 

3. Eat smaller meals more often. Rather than having 3 large meals which the body takes ages to digest and leaves you wanting to snack in between them, consider having 4 0r 5 smaller meals throughout the day. This will remove the temptation to snack and make it easier to eat fewer calories in one go.

 

4. Eat your starchy foods early in the day. Make sure your starchy foods (rice, pasta, bread) are eaten early in the day. These provide your primary source of energy so eat them early so you can burn it off throughout the day. If you eat it in the evening, then you will not burn it off.

 

5. Eat proteins in the evenings and after workouts. Protein is essential for maintaining muscle mass and can be used as energy (though not as effective as carbohydrates). The evenings are a good time to eat your proteins though just be sure they’re not from sources high in fat!

 

6. Add chilli to your food. By increasing flavour you are likely to fill more satisfied by your meal.
